Jack's work

Jack Gould's Latest Work in Nebraska (none / 0) Following up on Ed's latest post, I'd like to throw my two cents in on the work of Jack Gould. I've recently had the opportunity to work with Jack on a very important telecommunications bill. Jack and I have worked hard to shut down LB 645 in Nebraska, a bill introduced by Speaker Brashear designed to favor large media corporations while preventing Nebraska's consumers from having access to the latest high speed systems at the lowest costs available. Jack has been on top of this bill from day one. He discovered that Speaker Brashear was embroiled in a serious conflict of interest on this bill. Brashear serves as legal counsel to Cox Cable, one of the corporations who would benefit most if the bill were passed. Jack has been quoted in several newspapers on the issue and has been successfully working the state legislature to stop it. We've also been making phone calls to our members in Nebraska to make sure they are aware of the issue and to provide them the information they need to encourage them to lobby their state legislators to oppose this damaging bill. We expect another victory is in store, something that wouldn't be possible without the great work of Jack Gould and Common Cause Nebraska. We're lucky to have him aboard and look forward to more of his good work. Dan Lijana
